Atlantic High Skilled Program
The Atlantic High Skilled Program is a core stream under the permanent Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), an employer-driven immigration program that invites foreign nationals to settle as permanent residents in one of the four Atlantic Canadian provinces, which are Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Labrador.
Through the Atlantic High Skilled Program, Atlantic Canada helps local employers and communities recruit skilled workers as well as retain global talent to support:
- Population growth of the region
- Develop a skilled workforce
- Improve employment rate in the region
- Requirement of local employers
- Economic growth
To apply for immigration to Atlantic Canada through the Atlantic High Skilled pathway, one must complete the following mandatory steps:
Eligibility Check for Atlantic High Skilled Program:
The candidate is eligible to apply for this program if they have work experience of 1,560 hours accumulated over the past five years (aligned with updated structural adjustments under the permanent AIP framework) inside or outside Canada. The work experience must be listed under National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER level 0, 1, 2, or 3. In case they do not meet the skilled work threshold, they may explore alternative intermediate streams managed under the Atlantic framework.
Education check:
To be eligible, candidates must possess a certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized Canadian educational institute, or have an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a designated organization if studies were completed abroad. Additionally, they must meet the minimum language proficiency requirements in either English or French, supported by an official language test score report.
Proof of funds:
Applicants must provide proof of funds to support themselves and their families upon arrival, unless they are already living and working in Canada under a valid work permit.
Job Offer:
Candidate must hold a valid, official job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada. The job offer must be made through the mandatory Offer of Employment to a Foreign National form. It should be a full-time, paid, non-seasonal position, with the skill type listed under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3, and carry a minimum duration of 1 year.
Application submission:
The final step is to submit the complete permanent residence application to IRCC, accompanied by the mandatory provincial endorsement certificate received after the employer completes the settlement plan onboarding steps.
